The Database Administrator will design, implement, and provide operational support for InEight’s database systems. The MS Azure SQL DBA will track and resolve database-related incidents and requests, make requested database changes and respond to related alerts and escalations as needed. This position will support InEight’s Development, Test, and Production environments in Azure.

The ideal candidate will be an organized, self-managed individual with outstanding communication skills. They should have a high propensity for learning new technology and be very accountable in their daily duties. This person should proactively identify issues and consult with team members to establish resolutions. They should work well within a high-paced environment and function well in a diverse and dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Database Administration for MS Azure SQL Server

  • Create and operate backups, restores, and recovery procedures

  • Adhere to company security policies and effectively control access to data

  • Maintain documentation for IT processes, procedures, automation, trouble tickets, network configurations, hardware/software inventory, and audit requests

  • Off-hours work as required

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database problems

  • Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools

  • Create and maintain Indexes, index management, and statistics

  • Implement operations automation using scripts

  • Identify capacity and performance needs for database server infrastructure (compute, memory, disk, and network)

  • Manage IT-related initiatives, including long-duration projects across multiple groups.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple related projects, including troubleshooting, operations, and maintenance of the enterprise in a team environment.

  • Create and maintain technical and procedural standards documentation.

  • Present technical materials to technical audiences

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the IT field or in a related discipline

  • 3+ years of DBA experience with MS Azure SQL Server v11/v12, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Always On Availability, and SQL Server Transaction Replication

  • 2+ years of PowerShell or equivalent scripting experience

  • Azure SQL experience highly preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Must possess the ability to perform work in a “Dev/Ops” team environment.

  • Construction Industry experience preferred

  • Must possess the ability to direct and act as a resource for less experienced team members and relay necessary information as appropriate.

  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools

  • Experience evaluating current database environments, conducting research, recommending and implementing innovate systems technology that enhance the reliability, security, productivity and efficiency of the database infrastructure

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, security issues, etc.
